How does distance affect communication and relationships?

This week for my blog, I want to talk about the importance of physical interaction while having conversation and displaying communication with others. It plays a big role in how the conversation will unfold and what the results will be, just by seeing their face, and hearing their tone. You will be able to absorb so much more information if you’re not hiding behind a phone or computer screen. Yes, technology, particularly social media offers a way to connect with others at great distances, but how beneficial is it really? I would prefer a face to face conversation. Studies have found that the elements of  communication include: 7 percent verbal and 93 percent non-verbal. The non-verbal component was made up of body language (55 percent) and tone of voice (38 percent). And that is exactly why it makes such a difference if you’re physically in each others presence.

This absolutely is directly connected with relationships. But how does the way you communicate impact the relationships with people in our lives? There is so much more of a personal touch when you’re face to face. It is easier to receive the other person’s full attention, there are less distractions in the way. And it is easier to notice how much they care, by showing affection like a hug. It means a lot.

Social media can create jealously and conflict between two people in a relationship. For one reason, it is so easy for you to become in contact with anyone, and somebody out there will most likely send you a message wanting to flirt and or attempt to get involved in your life. Even a like can be considered flirting on todays social media platforms.

One way I think to keep your friendships and your romantic relationship successful, is to make time for them, let them know they’re a priority in your life, and communicate with them often. As long as both sides put in an effort, happiness with the people you love is acheivable.
